What you can build with the SEO API

The SEO API puts keyword and domain data into your own tools with seven REST endpoints. Use it as a keyword data API (volume, CPC, suggestions and ideas), a backlink API (referring domains and link summary), a domain ranking report API (overview and history) and an on-page audit. Domain reports tell you which data sources answered.

How the SEO API works

    Keyword reports take keywords, domain reports take a hostname and the audit takes a full public URL.

    For example POST /api/v1/seo/keywords/metrics with a keywords array and a country code, or GET /api/v1/seo/domains/example.com/backlinks.

    Domain responses list the sources that answered and any that did not, so partial data is visible instead of hidden.

Read search volume, CPC and competition with their source and market context. Missing metrics are not estimated automatically.

Domain history, backlinks and technical page checks are separate reports. A successful audit does not confirm Google indexing.

What data does the SEO API return?

Keyword volume, CPC and competition, keyword suggestions and ideas, a domain overview, domain history, a backlink summary and an on-page audit. It works as a keyword research API and, with the backlink summary, as a backlink checker API.

Is there a backlink API I can call from code?

Yes. GET /api/v1/seo/domains/{domain}/backlinks returns the backlink summary of a domain, with the figures of each data source that answered and a list of any that did not. See the guide on checking backlinks in Python for a working script.

How do I get keyword volume and CPC from an API?

Send up to 10 keywords and a country code to POST /api/v1/seo/keywords/metrics. It returns search volume, CPC and competition for each keyword, and a request is billed once however many keywords it holds.

Can I build a domain ranking report with the API?

Yes. Combine the domain overview, the backlink summary and the domain history, which covers up to 36 months, in a short script. The guide on building a domain ranking report shows how and how to flag missing data.

Are the numbers exact?

They are estimates from third-party data sources and can differ between sources. Missing metrics are not estimated for you.

Does a good audit score mean Google indexed my page?

No. The audit checks the page itself. Indexing is decided by Google and should be checked in Search Console.

Is there a free SEO API?

There is no free plan, but the free backlink checker and DNS lookup tools need no account. New accounts receive 200 credits after verification.

How is it billed?

Per request, with different prices per endpoint, shown in the table below. New accounts receive 200 credits after verification.

Handling errors

Keep the request ID for troubleshooting. For 429, respect Retry-After when provided. If a create or delete request loses its connection, check the resource state before retrying.
